Thursday morning I'm taking an AM flight to the deep south of Alabama for my cousin's wedding. I can't wait, it'll be a blast. I'm sure I'll hate the line-dancing and two-stepping, but I'm excited to soak in a new atmosphere. And a chance to hook up with one of the bridesmaids.
Just saw National Treasure; it was what I call "good popcorn cinema"; had a little action/adventure, romance and some laughs. Nothing earth-shattering, but a lot of fun. I noticed Disney is taking on an animated adaptation to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy - that will be.....interesting. I remember there was a live-action film of it back in 1981 - it was horrible. The effects were awful, the film quality looked cheap and the sound effects sounded like it came from a primitive synthesizer. And it was OVER 3-and-a-half hours long - like, are you nuts?
I posted in my journal last week how I was about to have an affair with a married woman I worked with. Well, my conscience got the better of me and I ended it with her. I knew it would end up bad and I don't think it would have been worth it. She's taking it rather well, thank God.
Tonight the Appleton City Council is voting on the proposed Smoking Ban on downtown bars and restaurants.
To be honest, I'm getting quite sick and tired of these fuckers who want to pass these laws of convenience - I mean, this is the land of the free, right? Aren't business owners allowed to do whatever they want with their bar or restaurant? The more I think about it, the more pissed off I get. Unfortunately I live in Menasha so this vote is out of my jurisdiction, but most of the nightlife around here happens in Appleton. I'll tell you this - if I owned a bar in Appleton and this smoking ban passed, I'd certainly pack up and move my operation somewhere else. My dad is an Appleton Alderman, and he's got a lot of support groups breathing down his neck wanting him to pass the ban, but he also knows one should do whatever they want with their business. I hope to God he sways the City Council to stop the ban.
Next time I post it'll be Monday; have a great weekend everybody!

i wish it were the 50's, when everyone smoked everywhere. the bar should be the one sacred place that you are allowed to smoke. jesus, what's next, prohibition again?
