Friday night I went to the Rave to see Collective Soul. I'm not a fan of their music honestly, but my buddy won free tickets and I just wanted a night to get outta here for a change. The opening band for them was the worst live act I have ever seen. The singer was totally off key, half of the time speakers weren't working, the band had TWO guitarists but I couldn't hear any guitar at all. But that singer......geez, I've heard drunken karaokes that sounded better than him. At around 10pm Collective Soul came on, and I'll admit, they put on a pretty good live show and the singer was bouncing around and having a blast. It's good to see some people don't have an ego when they're on stage.
Saturday I moved some furniture to my new apartment. I love the fact that I get 2 months to gradually move stuff in; it's nice breathing space and it makes the pain of moving more tolerable. Later that night I went to a buddy's house to eat a nice deep-fried turkey and watch a cheesy horror movie. The movie we watched was what I call "The William Hung of Horror Movies" - Ed Wood's classic "Plan NIne from Outer Space". Man, I can't even begin to tell you all the mistakes in this flick; from the cardboard "gravestones" to the "night-one-minute, daytime-the-next-minute" shots -- this was so bad it's amusing as all hell. I laughed like crazy.
The plan of action today is to work on the next page of my horror comic School. Pencils must be finished and the inks should be done by tomorrow night. If I don't meet my goal, I will force myself to watch a six-hour session of the House of Representatives on C-SPAN as a form of punishment.
