So the past week has been strangely one of the happiest in a long time. I wish i knew why but i think it just came down the amazing and beautiful people ive been spending the week with.
Monday night was my cousin's 18th birthday. Made me feel so old knowing that I have literally watched her grow up from a tiny baby to a young woman. She's funny and intelligent and strangely has the same attitude towards growing up and life that i do (im not sure if thats awesome or if im completely horrified). We never really got along when she was in her pre-teens, from a general lack of anything in common, but she seems to have found her self and is quite creative so thats great. i took my camera along to the birthday family shindig and spend most of it chilling with her and her 18-22 year old buddies who were quite fun and taking snaps.
The next day my folks departed for Japan so once my sister goes off to house sit for our other sister who is on her honeymoon itll be just me and the dog. I was luck enough to capture a fantastic portrait of my mother for my current project The Face We Live In before she left. I am completely in love with this shot because it captures not so much how she looks but how I feel about her. It sounds a bit loser-ish to say it as a 25 year old but she is still totally my rock. She the family member ive always felt closest to and who is the only one ive ever been 100% sure loves me unconditionally.
Wednesday I had an awesome shoot with April who is brand spanking new to modelling (it was her 2nd shoot ever) and we nailed it. Got some absolutely breath-taking shots which we want to submit to a tattoo magazine soon so i can only post outtakes. But im quite happy with even the rejects honestly. We were shooting in a stone warehouse with a tin roof and no insulation or air conditioning for the shoot from 11-1:30pm on a 38 degree day so it was super hot. I did run next door and borrow a few fans and a portable air con unit for April so she didnt get all sweaty in the photos :P I was mean while literally drowning in sweat in shorts and a t-shirt.
After the shoot with April i ran into an old friend on the street and we caught up and ate ice cream in the shade and shot the breeze. was good to see her after like 18 months of her being away in England.
Thursday and Today have so far been editing and trying to sort out my sleep pattern. I cannot seem to sleep more than 3 hrs at a time any more. :/ but other than that I am super happy.
