Ok, i hope this post does not offend anyone who has a Nightmare Before Christmas tattoo. I was almost tempted to put this in the Tattoo Group message board, but thought better of it since I'm just going to rant a little. If you happen to read this and have an NBC tattoo or know someone (personally) who does. Please helpe me understand why you have the desire to get a tattoo that seems to have been done to death.
I want to make a distinction here between a very specific tattoo like NBC and tattoo iconography. Yes, I'm sure if you ask any tattoo artist anywhere, they get more requests for hearts, butterflies, abstract tribal, Sailor Jerry, and other flash more than NBC. But NBC is a very specific image (or collection of images) and you can take more liberty and "customize" flash. I mean, hell there are thousands of different ways to draw a flower. But there's really only one way to draw Jack Skellington and have it look like Jack Skellington.
just for evidence, I have compiled a set of links to different NBC tattoos.
NBC 1
NBC 2
NBC 3
NBC 4
NBC 5
NBC 6
NBC 7
(thanks to BMEzine for a lot of those) But others i had to hunt through Google. Anyway, you get the point there are a lot of people out there with NBC tats. A lot of which cover the same ground, visually. And its not like the Nightmare Before Christmas is THAT unknown. It was produced by Disney! I think part of it is that, it already represents something pretty specific, so I'm wondering why so many people have decided to get it on their bodies. I mean, a lot of people have liked other movies (Donnie Darko comes to mind) but you dont see a lot of tattoos of it. I just wish i understood why.
