someday i hope to shoot with one of SG's awesome photographers. They really have such an amazing ability to showcase what makes each woman unique and beautiful.
a good friend of mine shot my set. he did a very good job, and i am very happy with it. But it doesnt have that special touch that SG photographers give. it was a learning experience for both of us. For my friend, it was learning how to shoot the human figure, and for me, it was learning how to interact with the camera.
It is very different, modeling for a camera vs. modeling for art classes. it was a learning curve, and i hope to keep learning and receiving feedback on how to improve. I look at these sets on SG, and theyre artwork. the photos are artwork, and the women are artwork. and not just because of the artwork on them, but the bodies themselves are artwork. and as an artist, i hope i get helpful artistic critiques when my set goes live.
I was inspired by SG as a teen, when i was feeling bad about myself, comparing myself to other girls, being bullied....just feeling terrible about myself. i stumbled upon SG and saw images of these powerful, unique, gorgeous women, they were confident, intelligent, accessible.... and it was the beginning of a long, bumpy road to self confidence. It took years to finally feel beautiful as myself..... and it was additional years working up to this time, when i felt ready to submit a set to the very group that inspired me...
and i hope some girl comes along and sees my set and starts on her own path to self confidence and individuality.
