So our annual pilgrimage to Dallas for the North Texas Irish Festival is over... Lots of good music, family fun and food... and then more food... grilled, roasted and fried food... we ate until we were full... then ate again. Needless to say, we were diet free for the weekend and we took full advantage of it. Did you know that in Texas they fry everything!?! Snickers, Oreos, Coke, Cheesecake and PICKLES!!! My son had to get a fried Snickers for 8 fuckin' dollars... it was too much... sweet, fried... something. He loved it and almost finished it off until the cloying sweetness was even too much for him! I don't really do fried because it tends to go right through me since my surgery... but fried pickles?? Oh, hell yeah!
I have this problem you see... I have absolutely NO will power when it comes to fair or festival food... steak on stick, roasted corn, funnel cakes...
So we are home now and tomorrow restarts the gym and weight watchers... phooey!

Glad you had a a great time. I have to agree with you. I also have a weakness for food at fairs, carnivals, and conventions. I am not sure it is due to the fact that I used to be a fat kid and still love deep down or if it is just simply because they have such neat, and creative things to eat that you normally wouldn't encounter. I live in West Virginia, which some people consider the South. Myself, I think of of it as more Southeast. Anyhow, due to the southern location we know all about deep fried pickles. Tons of restaurants sell them around here as appetizers and let me tell you, every chance I get I buy some. They are really good with ranch dressing. So is deep fried zucchinni. As for the snickers bar, I can honestly say that I have never heard of that one. I love Snickers and I am sure it was quite delicious. Although, I must admit I am extremely disappointed with the new Snickers Peanut Butter candy bar. You basically pay $0.50 for two bites of chocolate that tastes no different than a regular Snickers bar. Trust me, I would know if it tasted like peanut butter in any fashion. I am a peanut butter fanatic. I love anything made by Reese's or even a Peanut Butter Twix, which are quite hard to find in West Virginia. The Snickers Peanut Butter to me though, tastes no different than the original. It just had a different wrapper. It greatly saddened me! I hope all is well with you and your family!
