I've been so busy that I'd completely forgotten about the free three months SG has given me, and I think they're all but squandered now...
I'm snowed under with undreds of orrible things to do, and to learn, and to forget - my supervisor tells me the only time we'll ever have to stop learning new things is when we're finally placed in a box....

That is a fascinating looking book, thanks for pointing it out to me. Nansen sounds like a man I need to read about as well, "polar explorer, oceanographer, athlete, neuroscientist, diplomat", how amazing!! It gives me more hope of managing to combine all my disparate but ambitious interests successfully somewhere in life. Eh I love your profile too by the way. So you are studying at Heriot Watt or Edinburgh Uni? How do you find your course? I've been thinking of doing a second degree in something zoological/natural history based but I'm not sure. I'm trying to get take part in some voluntary things and just do a lot of reading on the subjects I'm most interested in and see if that quenches my thirst sufficiently before I get too carried away and commit more years and money to university...
Since the last time I was on SG (some THREE years ago! crivens!) I've been busy - I've completed my undergrad degree, travelled round europe, started a masters degree, and now I'm seeking adventures and phds.
I wasn't sure if I was cut out for a career in science, but then I read this: the importance of stupidty.

I've spent most of my time in the field for my degree course. Without the internet my flatmates and I have been sitting around the lounge talking to each other in the evenings instead of tapping away infront of the dull glow of a monitor. It's insane.

Next time you're in tell me what your tattoo depicts; I've been trying to figure it out.

i think north england have the MOST crazy songwriter of the entire world=it s name is U.N.P.O.C.=usually not proven or corroborated. UNPOC i love it! it sounds like a crazy version of sydbarrett solo, check out his cd, "5 column" of 2003

When I was younger I thought that the word hardly meant "not at all" - so I used to tell my parents "I hardly punched him" or "I hardly broke it!" and would still be punished. It took me years to figure it out.
I also used to think that superb was actually superv. And that vivid was vivdiv.

Just saw your post in the vinyl vs. cd thread in the indie rock group. Your dad has great taste! I try to get my friends into John Martyn, so far to no avail. All I have is Solid Air. Can you recommend other albums?

I replied to your light and mirrors question
How shall a man escape death if not by ceasing to wait and hope?
Reading proflies makes me depressed, bunch of mopey sods if I ever saw.

I still don't 'get' logic. Predicate is easy enough but Propositional doesn't make as much sense to me, truth trees and table are all very well but I don't get natural derivation. It seems like you can just assume *anything* to be true then use that assumption to justify something further up the derivation.
I thought I was pretty good at maths but my logic...

Don't think so!
Considering Jon their bassist bought his amp off of Max ages ago and is still using it, I'm guessing not...
But yeah, man, we didn't know what to say to Shellac, Bob seemed like a really laid back and cool guy though. Todd is massive and Steve is quiet. Maybe he was scared of us.

Cheers!
That would explain why Andy had a brand new Marshall set-up and Jon was still using his old amp.

This weeks topics are all about the Modus Tolendo Tollens and Reductio Ad Absurdum.
Most recently bought CD: Live Bothy Band Concert - Irish traditional folk music is greater than all of you.. except the SG's of course.

I've been loving Sexy Beast of late though I always have to track on past the bit where Lovejoy is taking it up the shitter.
He's obviously a committed crook and I respect that but everybody needs to draw the line somewhere.
If you enjoy watching films that make you want to talk like a cockney hardman you should check out The Limey.

Haha. You suffer from the same attraction to HMV that James does. Seriously, it is like a magnet drawing him in whenever he happens to pass a damn store.
Handing my account over to an ex..... have fun
