Friday was a mixed day. I finally nailed down an apt. in the Portland area, (Tigard actually) and that was a big relief.
I got news that my grandma died last night. She had a good run, in her 80s when she passed. She was one of a kind. Taught me how to play blackjack, kicked my ass at Scrabble every time, was an excellent cook (southern style) and got a lot out of a hard life. She was originally from Harlan Co., KY. A rough childhood for sure in what was a hotbed of union/anti-union activity in the surrounding coal mines. She and my granddad moved to Oregon in the 50s, with my dad and siblings in tow. I believe she is in a better place now.
I will be back to PDX Sunday, work Monday and Tuesday, move on Wednesday/Thursday, back to work on Friday, head to the coast for the memorial service next weekend. Staying busy is helping! Walking around downtown PDX with friends last night was great. I felt like I was back where I belong, and that is a good thing.
This afternoon is dedicated to more packing and watching the Beaver/Wildcat game. We need the win and the confidence boost before taking on USC next weekend in our house.
I hope you are all well, take care of yourself and don't forget to call someone you love...do it now!
