..and I recall having sat in the Art Institute of Chicago watching people watch the Rothko exhibit. I must have sat for an hour, hour and a half..and people either strolled by obliviously or stood stock still as close to a painting as they could get. There seemed to be little of the in-between reactions..
..to me, the classic Rothko has always been a half-opened windowshade on the world..it's all in there if you should look hard enough..
