The scene opens Its crisp clear night and the nearly full moon casts a silver shine so brightly that it feels nearly like daylight to the two soldiers trying to hide crouched beside a road in the middle of an empty open desert. The night is silent until one of them starts quietly humming and the following conversation takes place at a whisper.

Soldier 1:...

It was a good day and a bad day but at least it wasn't a boring day.

*Got to feel what it was like to have someone reach across 5000 miles and tear my heart to shreds...isn't the information age an amazing thing?

*got to put on make-up(ok so it was camoflauge) and go for a moonlit stroll on a beach so big there is...

nuh uh.

>>>Camel spiders are not spiders. They are sometimes called "wind scorpions" but they are not scorpions either. They are a different species of arthropod called solipugids which are not venomous or have silk-making capacity. The name 'camel spider' may come from their often being found on corpses of camels which has lead to the myth that they actually can kill camels. In truth, they will use the body of a camel to prey upon other insects that gather around carrion. Also, it has been said that the camel spider will use the hair it collects to build a nest. Whether or not it will use human hair collected from sleeping soldiers is also not confirmed.<<<

I got my new gym shoes in the mail...but then the gym got blown up before I got a chance to use them. There's probably a moral to this story about procrastination but Im thinking that its a good thing Im a lazy bastard or I could have been killed wink

Rough couple days at the office. The sort that even very graphic depictions wouldn't really do justice to. So nice to be able to plug into the site here and slip away from this place. look at the pretty pitures all bright and soft and woman shaped. Thanx to all of you that have wished me well. Here's to putting stock in wish power!

A lazy day and the air is filled with the suspended dust blown in from the western desert. Fine partical dust that sifts through your eyelashes and squinted lids to fill your eyes with stinging sand. They call it a shmall (not sure how you'd go about spelling it) It means west as in the western winds that cary it in. It kicks up as...

On the road of life I'm officially the little kid in the back seat asking "are we there yet?" Got to do one of those great hand out candy and soccerball kinda missions today. It never seems like enough though and was kind of depressing for me . A bunch of "Meester, meester gimmie football! Meester, meester gimmie glasses." And so on. Aparently anything tied...

You are the dividing line between the peaceful and the warlike. You keep those people safe, and if no one else could ever understand when you ask why, you can know that other soldiers do.

Nothing much for news, Had some Iraqi check out in the back seat of my humvee as we were trying to get him to the hospital. I'm told thier is more apropriate/emotional responses than "He didn't shit on my ammo did he?" So maybe I've been here too long.
On a much brighter note one of the guys in my team just had a son...
