In our month of rather extreme poverty (fuck you, IRS), it's nice to have musician friends who will put us on lists for shows.
Last night we had the pleasure of seeing the Stan McMahon band and the Village Green at Lola's Room, and much fun was had. I wish that other people, namely recording label kind of people, could see just how truly awesome Stan is, because it would be so novel to see their album in record stores, instead of just having homemade CDs.
The Village Green are definitely on their way to indie stardom, and they sounded great last night. It's fun going to shows before the band has really taken off, and you can stand where you like, and you're not getting shoved by 18 million people. I was suprised that nobody threw tampons at them, since they have a song in a Tampax ad.
My favorite line from the lead singer: "Our album should be out in August. Hopefully you all can find it online ahead of time and download it, because we hate money." Awesome.
It's always good to get out of the house. As proof of my hermitage all of these months, I had absolutely no idea that the Burnside bridge was closed. When the hell did that happen??

Tell them to play again soon. Or something.
