great 2B back.

my podiatrist just sent me home, minus crutches!! yay!!

the fracture is healing, but it could take 6-8 more weeks to heal completely, so the cast stays on when moving about (it's one of the velcro-strap thingies, so it makes a very satisfying rrriipppp sound when taking it off).

i feel like herman munster--or at moments, like gene simmons--because...

i was just going to check in with you and see how the Bowie shows fared...sounds like it was going rather nicely until you ran out of A/C...but to see Bowie at the Greek, ah what bliss...The Bay area has to be wonderful this time of year...nothing like sea air while you're watching an outdoor show.
i hope to see some of your work down the line...i'm sure you've gotten some great footage/mixes.
let me know.

A posterized, cartoonified image of David Bowie and band playing was projected onto the screen behind the stage. David Bowie's voice was heard telling Gerry Leonard, "That's good Gerry, keep going," but it was several more minutes before the band took the stage, and another minute before David Bowie came out. Nothing was said then - they immediately launched into the song "Rebel Rebel."

There...

That sounds very nice.... only, by this point in time, I'd rather focus on "Slip Away" and "Afraid" as the main encores over "Changes" (totally sick of) or "Suffragette City" (still cool... but...)
Not being familiar with Reality, I still have to say it looks like he performed just about none of it! I mean, I think I know the album-origins of 99% of these. (edit- I went n looked up the album just now)
Clear Channel owns every venue in America, right? Ehh, there's a reason to be afraid of Americans right there.

I wonder how different some of these songs are done now? Are the '70s songs quite different now?

04.17.2004 NEWS: BOWIE IN BERKELEY

A Reality Tour reached the Berkeley Community Centre in San Francisco for what sounds like a very special evening.

David also kept to the other promise of his recent journal when he performed the 1971 classic, The Supermen. Not only is it the first time he's performed it on this tour, but it's the first time he's...

I still need to hear Reality; I, for one, think Heathen was near enough up to his '70s/'80 standards.

In Search of Nick Drake

LONDON, England (AP) -- Brad Pitt will narrate a British Broadcasting Corp. radio series about one of his musical idols, Nick Drake.

The BBC said Tuesday that the actor had recorded a two-part documentary about Drake, which will air on music station Radio 2 next month.

The plaintive singer-songwriter recorded three albums before his death from a drug overdose in...

Wow. Thanks for opening up like that. I have to admit, I have never listened to any Nick Drake. I have a friend that always seems to catch the latest "trend" in music, but never really discerns between the good ones and the bad. He has insisted that I listen to some Drake. However, I hate dissapointment and I am stubborn to the point that when I am told, "oh, you have got to listen to this", I NEVER feel persuaded. On the other hand, yours is an inspiring story. I think I will seruptitiously listen to a cd, but never tell my friend and then if I like it, only admit it in about a year. That way I can claim that I don't remember him suggesting it. biggrin

from the Canadian rumor mill:

the show was a hit in Canada and the rumor is that Global TV, the network which carried the show, is considering purchasing the rest of the thirteen episodes, to complete its run.

I just saw today, while looking around Amazon, that the first seasons of Freaks and Geeks and The Gilmore Girls are both coming out soon on DVD.
It seems like respectable shows do eventually find their audience... it's just the audience has to pay...
