So I woke up early (from birds singing their songs outside), and I was ready to go watch "The Dark Knight".
And when I arrivedI was stunned at the long line. Despite warnings from news stations about long lines, I was still surprised. However, I still managed to get an ticket under 5 minutes, which is awesome. The theater was well-attended, the audience was a mix of young and old, rich and poor, and everything in between. I can honestly say that comic geeks represented a minor portion of the audience.
The movie? Well, you will enjoy it. I love it enough to watch it over again (in IMAX too ). Starting off with the different tone from its predecessor, and a much more involved and engaging storyline, it's isn't about the fights that come as standard in superhero fare, and goes beyond it. The story touches on many themes, and the ensemble cast is used to great effect. Gone is the focus on Batman, the focus is now squarely on a world that seems to be illogical and how people cope with it. Gone are any unlikeable characterizations, instead replaced with plot that drives the characters.
So, yes, you will enjoy it. No, you will not say after watching the movie "I wasted my time." I am confident that you will enjoy the movie, so much so.that I will pay for your ticket! If you have family members or friends who aren;t into comic books, expect them to ask questions about all the Batman characters. And take them to the nearest bookstore or comic book store to recommend some excellent stories!
