Whew! I finally managed to come home!
The party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY was a nice affair, I got to see several exhibits: the regular Greek and Roman Art wing, the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas, the rooftop terrace displaying the "Jeff Kooms on the Roof" exhibit and last, but not least, the "Superheroes and Fashion" exhibit.
The 'Superheroes and Fashion' exhibit was truly special and one of a kind. The curators draw parallels between Superhero costumes and current Fashion trends. The curators also attempt to find the subtext of superhero fashion. For example, Iron Man represents masculinity in danger, Batman represents the restrained sobriety, Catwoman representing the paradox between freedom from men and yet, still a slave to men's desires.
It was an interesting exhibit, and an interesting party. I didn't really have a party-party, more like taking the opportunity to have intimate views of artworks displayed that I would not have otherwise looked at with tourists around.
Honestly, I was a fish out of water. I was the only guy NOT wearing a suit jacket. Well, at least people checked me out because I was different. Or maybe because I was the only one holding a grpahic novel there of "Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps War: Volume 2". Here are some photos of the exhibit:
