really nice to have a day off from work, can't remember how long it's been. slept in. did things around the house. never went anywhere. wow i needed that.

i think it helped that it was raining and the wind was howling outside. made it feel even better to be sitting at home recharging.

i'm in portland for the weekend, welcomed by rain and ten degrees less warmth. supposed to get sunny by the end of the weekend though.

this is my first time here, all the folks i've met so far have been pretty nice. some of the neighborhoods remind me of where i grew up in michigan or sometimes like D.C.

wow, the baby shower included a very wrong cake, shaped like a woman with a baby's head popping out. um, yuck.

but the party was really fun. the uterus pinata took a serious beating. the strippers teased the hell out of the mom and dad to be. and then we wrapped up by playing pregnant twister - everyone wore a twenty point sand bag strapped...

now i'm off to a baby shower, but one with tons of booze, strippers, and a uterus pinata. for real. i'm terrified.

this weekend continues my year long project to reduce things-i-don't-need. took more to good will yesterday, and made piles of things that friends might like and piles of things to try to sell. it feels really good to reduce, but i still can't figure out where all this stuff came from.

life is good. work is good. so far this year is shaping up nicely.

most of all i'm happy being single and with the things i'm working on at home and at work.

any my meditation practice is deepening each month. normally i wouldn't see distinct progress, but that last few months have made a real difference in my day to day life. nice to...

ah, the sweet overwhelm of way too much to do and falling behind in everything at the same time... well, at least work is on the up and up so i'll keep getting a paycheck.

this week is about catching up.

saw the new cirque show, zumanity, last week. beautiful performance. really beautiful.

steamed i'm going to miss the SG show next week in SF.

but when the work is good you have to take it right? so many friends are still out of work and it's been over a year for a few. hope this year is better for us all.

Happy New Year. Went to a monstrously huge party last night - mostly burners and freaks there - but even with it so large the ratio of interesting and real folks was great.
