So I got off SWYDM this morning, and went for brunch at a restaurant called "De Dutch". It was really good - I left feelimg sated and pleased with the world. Then we did some shopping for food.
Picked up a T-Bone and some fresh Salmon steaks.
After coating the T-Bone in a layer of Cajun seasoning, Seasoniong Salt, and Montreal Steak Spice... I set the Salmon to marinating in a mixture of fresh dill, margarine, and a touch of curry - and ample fresh lemon juice.
In a tinfoil package I combined diced yellow onion, broccoli, potatoes, fresh dill, and 3 slices of processed cheese. I threw the package on the top rack of the BBQ, and cooked it for maybe 25 minutes.
lastly... I hand shredded a head of romaine, mixed in caesar dressing, fresh parm, and some garlic croutons.
I haven't gotten to the point where everything is cooked from scratch, but it's getting closer.
End result?
1 17oz. T-Bone Steak Dinner, with BBQ broiled veggie mix, and a fresh caesar salad.
1 9oz. BBQ Salmon Steak Dinner, in a creamy dill/cucumber sauce, with BBQ broiled veggie mix and fresh caesar salad.
Everything turned out Keg quality... so with tip, we had a 70 dollar meal - for less than dinner for 2 at McDonalds.
Moral of the story? Time to start home-cooking more often.
I'm off to have a slice of homemade Strawberry-Apple-Rhubarb Pie
