Spontaneous is fun!
and painful too
Got home from work on Saturday, and said "Let's take a road trip!"
Drove 16 hours to get to Calgary (took a wrong turn, based on bad directions in Washington.)
Highway 20 is NOT a good way to get from Bellingham to Montana. I wanted to drive through the US because gas is cheaper... but driving twice as far as we should have didn't make it worthwhile *lol*
Got to Calgary around 11am Sunday, stayed until 1:45 Monday... should have left Sunday, but we were both way too tired to be driving, and there was a bit of a snowstorm in the Rogers Pass... overtired + snow in the dark = no driving Sunday night. Better to miss a day of work than be unable to work due to a crippling accident, or worse, dead.
So anyways, we got there around 11, napped for a bit, then went for brunch with some friends we don't see nearly often enough and cuteshutterbug who also gave us a place to nap, and put us up for the night last night.
The drive back, I made horrible time. 10 hours and 15 minutes. I normally do it in 8 or 8 and a half. Then again, I normally do the drive in the summer, and don't usually spend 30 minutes sitting at the Rogers Pass waiting for it to open (it's only open one direction at a time because they're doing work on the snowsheds)
I might have shaved 20 minutes off that between Hope and Surrey, but there were cops everywhere, and construction (construction = double fines). It wasn't worth the risk.
Oh!! And I picked up a 6 pack of A & W Sparkling Vanilla Cream Soda. Haven't had that in years (it mixes SO well with Jack - or Rye...)
