Today I tidied up the bedroom for the first time... it was getting pretty cluttered and the carpet was getting full of hair and face powder like it does when I'm around. The room has particularly got that unfortunate problem going -- which usually takes me about 6 months to resolve if I have a furniture budget, which I don't here, so it's not worth working on I guess -- where the place that I use everything isn't convenient to the intended place for storing the items, meaning things don't get put away and I just leave them laying around in wherever it is that I use them -- in this case, on the floor right in front of the door, because that's where the radiator (only warm spot) is.
The household vacuum is a Dyson. I have to say I am impressed, it might actually be worth the horrible expense of that brand. I thought it did a really good job of sucking a surprisingly massive amount of dirt up from about a 2 foot square area of carpet and I had to immediately go empty the filter.
I would like it if I could find some cheap solution to all those clotheslines. I suppose maybe getting a hammer and nails and making some better things for securing lines to might be one possibility... I have heard of pulleys which would be nice for making use of that giant ceiling, but they are a little pricy for something I'm just going to have to abandon in about 5 months.

try blocking off the fireplace with some cardboard and seal it with tape....it will stop the heat from the radiator being sucked up the chimney....

Inre: clotheslines-- If you can afford it, get one of those plastic folding doo-dads that look like a dinner tray, but are composed of just bars, for hanging clothes on; and keep it near the heater when you're not in front of it yourself. Those work wonders in little rooms like that, and can be folded up and put away when not in use.
