Good news: rebooked my flight so instead of 8:15 AM I leave at a more reasonable 10:45 AM -- they just changed it so that instead of getting to London via Chicago, it's now via Dallas; then the Heathrow to Gatwick to Edinburgh thing is the same. So I'll still probably have to be out the door early, like maybe 7:30, to get the fight, but at least it's an improvement and whoever has to drive me to the airport won't hate me so much.
Bad news: still not finding a perfect place! There's one that was almost good but has kind of a major problem of having no dryer (the guy I'm talking to says this is common in shared flats, and it's true I got the impression from my visit that one tries to use the dryer but rarely as electricity bills seem to run high in that part of the world; but particularly in a tiny room, hang-drying things like bedsheets sounds like it would be impossible, especially since things take days to dry out there.)

Good news on the flight, have you packed yet?
