Curiously warm winter in Santa Fe so far. We'd have usually gotten our first snow sometime in October, but here it is December and we've still had no snow, and today for my mile-and-a-half walk to the post office (three miles when return is considered) I didn't even need to put on socks.
Contrary to common belief, Santa Fe is not a warm place. We have a ski basin. We're at an elevation of about 7,000 feet. Winters are cold and unpleasant. I once knew a lady who loved Santa Fe but hated winter, and so decided she had to move because "In Santa Fe, winter is 6 months out of the year; so I've just been getting through half of every year."
It's not as bad as Minnesota, I think (but then, I needed to wait around outside a lot more in Minnesota than I ever have in Santa Fe, because of those stupid buses; maybe I'd get frostnip at the bus stops if it took 80 minutes wait for the bus at night out here, too.)

....and you want to live in Scotland?

I own land in Scotland, not too far away from a loch which is open to the sea......I wouldn't be wearing a kilt anytime in winter....and only on a few days in summer!
