Had fun today in New Orleans. I was up early and walked around the French Quarter -- officially I was on business (I had a gambling charm to make for a client and wanted to get it done before heading to France.) Still, I had a bit of fun. Maybe the thing I like about New Orleans is the people -- they are very friendly, and I seem to be a hit. By about 2 o'clock I was tired and came back to the hostel, and managed to time things just right to miss the rainstorm that suddenly manifested.
Evening my feet were hurting too much to really venture back to the French Quarter again, bad as I really wanted. Still, the nice thing with staying is a hostel is you can meet all kinds of interesting people without even having to put on shoes! Also good is a lot of these folks are travelers and have been to Paris before. (The expense is the main thing everyone remarks on... though they say it is less expensive than New York.)
Off to the airport first thing tomorrow. I wish I had confidence that my trip to Paris was going to be a lengthy stay but honestly at this point I'm feeling like my money will hold out a week at best.
