Interesting day today... there was an eclipse of the sun this afternoon, so went out with parents to see it in downtown Hermosa. Beforehand we decided to eat at a restaurant where I may have had the worst waitress/bartender ever serve us. She was blonde and tan and thin and had large breasts, which is probably why she got the job. She would forget our orders immediately, was really bad at making drinks, and then was absolutely insane on top of it. We reminded her about the upcoming eclipse and she ended up talking about how it probably meant the world would end and she was so excited about God coming out of the sky. Then my dad said something about how earthquakes sometimes happen shortly after eclipses and she seemed to think that meant a giant earthquake that would kill everyone was abut to occur, and that it meant we'd all die tonight. It's kind of disquieting when your bartender asks, cheerfully and enthusiastically, "I'm not afraid of dying -- are you???" At one point she was talking about how she'd been writing in her journal, stream-of-consciousness stuff but she didn't seem to know that term, and the guy next to us made some kind of offhand joke about her speaking in tongues. She also didn't know what that was, and when he tried to explain she defended her writing as being from her emotions or something, and weirded him out as well.
Anyway, afterward we went outside to watch the eclipse, but I saw much more interesting stuff including a seal swimming in the ocean, and two people apparently having sex on the beach in front of the lifeguard station (they were being about as discreet as you can be having sex on a beach in full view... they had on swimsuits and I guess just moved the cloth aside, but the girl sitting legs open on the guy's lap bouncing rhythmically kind of gave it away.)
And now I am back home, and trying to avoid eating anything because I've been eating way too much lately. I'm not going to fit in some of my clothes if this keeps up. I think I've been overcompensating from nearly starving to death in Minnesota.
Meanwhile, I am thinking I might try to go to New Orleans or something. I know 1 person there as an internet friend, making it the current best option for a place to go live. I can't bear the thought of going to grandma's trailer again, and it sounds like she had another mean-old-lady freakout at my dad and presently to my knowledge is not inviting him or me or my mom back anyway.
