Been a rather bad couple months for business, which is sort of unfortunate given I spent a bunch of money to try to increase sales. All it increased was the amount of stupid I get to deal with. (Though that too has cut back after I just put in giant letters on the Contact page that I don't work for free.)
I suppose on the plus I've had time to work on some oil paintings:
Hung that one up on my wall where, of course, I find I can't actually see it because my eyesight's not that good for distance viewing. I had sort of made it intending to sell it, then changed my mind, and may at this rate change it back again.
Weirdly I managed to move a couple copies of David Garrick lately, (and if you're thinking of buying it I actually recommend the version in this book -- it's been a little better proof-read. Ah, I once was good at spelling and typing but no more, ten years of the internet and reading those emails from clients have quite liquified my wits.) Also managed to move a copy of Sweeney Todd, meaning I'm up to having sold four whole copies of that disaster.
I'm slightly afret on cash since I'm going on an almost 3-week trip to Chicago; and while I'll be staying with friends so most necessities will be paid, I do hope to actually do some things there beyond sitting in the dark at my friends' and eating all their cereal. My theoretical purpose is twofold: I have a wedding to attend (not anyone I know, but my friend invited me) and I've got research to do at one of the libraries there. I hope, as well, that I'll be able to find some frickin' shoes someplace in the largeness of that city. There's probably some museums and restaurants I'd like to go to also. Might be cutting it close financially -- especially since the obligations of Father's Day and my sister's birthday both turn up in the course of all this -- but I hope to manage. As long as my friends don't pull a London* on me I should be okay.
*A famous trip I went on where my "friends" I was supposed to stay with changed their mind about 2 days before I was supposed to be there, thus wrecking my whole budget as I was suddenly obliged to pay for a hotel and had to keep begging my dad to send me more money which he himself had to borrow from other people.
