Well, my medieval shoes didn't work out They're not only about a size too large (I'm starting to think that all shoe manufacturers must have secretly taken everything up a size and made no announcement, because this year every damn shoe I've gotten in my usual size has been a size too big) but also, the modernized sole that's been made for ease of repair and supposed comfort, is exactly the kind of stiff sole I was trying to avoid. I can't walk in flat shoes with a stiff sole -- so this means most shoes. If it's stiff it's got to be a high heel. I seem to just naturally walk in a way that's on tiptoe, so I can't walk in anything that doesn't bend that way. I was hoping some medieval shoes might be more like a moccasin with soft leather soles, but it looks like most companies use more modern soles because that's what people are used to.
Shoe shopping is an utter misery, I don't know why anyone would enjoy it.
