At least I'm starting to reap the benefits of my $1800 dental work -- I found today I can now eat raw carrots and ice cream without the experience being horrible.

Also got to have a bit of a fun new experience lately: working with lead. I was making a magical charm that required melting some into a shape and then carving it with specified letters. It's about as complicated a magical charm as I've yet made. Lead was neat though! I got to see some things about melting it, pouring it, polishing and filing it... might have contaminated the whole kitchen in so doing, but whatever.

I don't recall if I posted here about my plot to try to get into Oxford university. Since it's in a foreign country they don't care really if I have a high school diploma as long as I have other evidence of knowing suitable information regarding the subject I want to study. So, I've signed up to take the World History SAT this summer, which (assuming I pass) would be adequate. I also need to take some kind of a class, as they want anyone applying to have taken a real class (like with grades and things) in the last 3 years, so I'm thinking I might try to take something at the Community College, hopefully something that will still be useful to me whether this Oxford thing works or not. I'm thinking maybe woodworking.
Funny thing: I am apparently not eligible to even take the GED test! This is because one needs a state ID (like a driver's license) with a photo, and I have no such thing -- just a passport.
wtk10025:
Oxford sounds like an intriguing prospect.
