Doing a commedia dell'arte play is surprisingly physically demanding. Our theater has a concrete floor, and just about the only lazzo I could concoct for the inamorata was fainting. So after about two dozen faints onto that cement, the entire right side of my body was nicely bruised -- ankle, knee, hip, ribs, elbow, wrist, anything pointy. Carrying the props to and from rehearsal was as much as my arms could take. Then I need to learn a short piece on the violin, but I've not played the thing in years, so my fingertips are all blistered now from working the strings.
In any case, here's a picture I got in the mirror of my inamorata costume:
I'm also trying to learn to sing the female half of Now The Maids and the Men, and that seems to be irritating my throat and making me cough.
But, I am happy to see that Commedia dell'Arte Day has picked up a few more gigs: NYC and Istanbul are now on the map!

I am enamored with the giant hat. I must have one.
