My Theater Books, as follows:
La Commedia Inglese: English Plays of the Commedia dell'Arte
The only one in which I've personally written any of the plays, this book has 4 plays from 4 centuries of English commedia dell'arte.
'Tis Pity She's a Whore
Illustrated by me -- my personal favorite picture being the death of Bergetto. The 'whore' of the title is actually a woman having an affair with her own brother.
Marriage la Mode, with original music restored.
I underwent a bit of expense and trouble on this one to actually find the sheet music for the 350 year old songs that one is instructed to sing. The play itself is pretty funny, the story is about two couples who are attempting to cheat with each other.
David Garrick
A poor old play that was extremely popular when it first came out, but now just seems to offend people with its corniness. I liked it well enough to retype the whole thing for this.
