Maybe for good, maybe for bad -- College of Santa Fe got in touch to let me know they might have costumes, BUT, I will have to finish the movie (or at least the filming of the movie) by May 15th which is the last day the school is open before summer vacation; no one is on staff after that, so it is the absolute last day I'd be able to take out costumes.

I think it is possible to do that movie that quickly. I need to arrange, as soon as possible, to look at the costume department and see what's actually available so I can be sure they've really got anything I can use (who knows, they might have outfits as bad as the Costume Salon, in which case I'm back to begging at the opera) but if they do have things I can use I'll probably go ahead and cast it based on headshot and resume alone, then scramble to arrange a location. I like the Hotel Plaza Real downtown the best, even if they do have carpeting (wall to wall carpeting, while not entirely inaccurate, was nevertheless a rare thing until vacuum cleaners made it more practical.) In a pinch I can resort to using my sister's old room. My dad seems to know someone who can lend us a good camera.

I'm also trying to figure out what to do about the music. I've decided on Mozart's "Musical Joke" to play in the background. I might be able to negotiate what are called Festival Rights to an existing recording for not very much money, in which case I'd have to renegotiate the contract if the movie were ever to be picked up for something (like a DVD or a TV showing, or theoretically even if I put it up online.) Otherwise I am wondering if the all-volunteer chamber orchestra in town might be willing to do a recording, because I know a recording studio in town that'll only charge $20 an hour and, if it doesn't take more than 2-3 hours, it's probably cheaper than getting Universal Music to let me have the St-Martin-in-the-Fields recording, plus since it would be my own recording I could use it for any purpose I want. That's post-production so it's not as urgent as the costumes, actors, location and camera.

Good luck with everything- this seems no less an undertaking than it would be for a general planning his campaigns (perhaps Napoleonic wars...? biggrin)
