Just had a dream about the movie The Princess and Frog, which I never have actually seen. For some reason I dreamed an entirely alternate version (though I wasn't too far in when I woke -- Tiana an the Prince hadn't even met yet.) Unaware I kept thinking, "This is the best Disney movie ever, there's cursing every 5 minutes and the Princess's song has the same tune as Se il mio nome saper bramate." I managed to successfully dream up a bluesier, female version of it.
Still, within the dream where I kept thinking of (supposedly) a version of the script I'd written myself and sent off to Disney, and was frequently suspecting they'd stolen out ideas of mine at the last minute and worked them into their version without giving me credit, as not only did the Rossini seem a weird touch for Disney but apparently there was also a whole scene in the dream-version that was identical to something I had written myself (note dream logic -- the scene was from a completely different story I wrote and was of completely different characters and written in 18th century English.)
I'm pretty sure this was just a dream resulting of the script I'm currently working (which actually is written in 18th century English) and Princess and the Frog turned up because -- and I think I posted about this here some time back -- I had been planning to pitch to Disney a story based on that same fairytale until my efforts to submit the idea revealed they already had something else from it in production. Past failures of this type have me in a very unhappy state about screenplays so it's no wonder they were invading my dreams that way.
Alternate plot went thus: The Tiana character lived in this really bad house in a bad part of town with her family, and hobos kept getting in all the time. She also apparently ran some kind of junk shop where not much sold and she was usually getting ripped off when something did, but she had some wealthy friends who did contribute things sometimes. She went to a school where she had some other friends her age --and it was located in an area that kind of looked like Canyon Road here in Santa Fe -- and it was a really weird school that was in a (filthy) shopping mall. It was obviously being set up that she was going to meet the Prince in disguise at a bar that was in the school that was in a shopping mall.
