It is soooo nice not to require a heart-attack to accompany every purchase made!
I sold 2 readings to the same person, so armed with $40 atop my other savings, I went out hoping to find some new shoes. I had gotten some shoes a few months ago, but they fell apart really fast (they seem to have been intended as costume shoes or something, and presumed they wouldn't be worn more than twice.) There's a website that sells a type of custom shoes I'd really like but it's a little over my budget ($200 a pair, plus 6 weeks wait.) I can afford, I decided, up to $100 for shoes.
I walked over to a store near the house called On Your Feet, which appears to focus on stocking walkable shoes. This is kind of nice, as I do have trouble finding attractive shoes that are suitable for this sidewalkless city -- though indeed, the stock of affordable, attractive shoes was small. I found one pair I am considering; the heel was a bit lower than I would like, I'm in the market for about a 2.5 inch and that thing looked less than 2, but if I can't track down anything better in the next couple weeks I might go back.
I dropped into a consignment store hoping I might have some luck finding interesting shoes there. No shoes, but I did spot a nice dress, and it was only $25 and in my size (in fact, it looks quite nice on me -- makes me look skinnier) so I went ahead and got it.
Since this town is populated with only old ladies and hobos, everything was closing up after that because it was 5:30. So I didn't get to continue the shoe-search anymore today, but maybe tomorrow I will invest in a bus-ticket and go out to the mall and see what's there.
