The annoying things about Minnesota/my living situation in Minnesota are becoming apparent at this point.
A) My room is right near the catbox, and because of the way the door is made the stench of it wafts in forever, and the man in charge of cleaning the box cleans it maybe once a week. So every time I need to get to the room I...

Hey, I found your Gibson video on a forum and I just wanted to say....that your slightest tinge of sarcasm was hilarious. I loved it.
My parents are going to be mailing me a few important boxes of my possessions including makeup and beauty items, my shoes, and some of my CDs. Yay! Only thing that worries me is I think they want to repackage them for mailing, and I think in one of those boxes might be a little baggie of "personal concerns" (as we call them in hoodoo)...

I'm going to have to buy one of your books.
In December, remind me, and I'll buy directly from you. Screw the middleman.

Did the opera audition -- took substantially longer to get there, and to find a door into the building, than the audition itself took. (I had to circle the building trying every single door, one after another being locked; I was beginning to panic that I'd miss the audition for not being able to actually get into the building and that someone may have forgotten...

Audition with the Skylark opera is tomorrow, and I might try to stop by a tattoo shop that was looking for a receptionist and see if that's worth doing. (They pay minimum wage, which in Minnesota is only $7.50 hr, but if it's full time it might be worth it. It would require spending about 4 hours on the bus every day to and fro.)
Well, I don't think my interview went very well. The fact that they interviewed me and another girl at the same time made my badness all the more apparent. I don't know what to do -- I'm not able to do customer service jobs it seems, or at least not interview well enough to get them. but they're all that exist for me.
thebeliever:
Ugh, customer service. What about jobs that rely on writing and organizing things? The publick can be a fickle and rapacious beast; I recommend avoiding it when possible. (I, however, cannot; but I've assiduously avoided anything in the customer service realm, on account of my potential for murdering someone.) I do realize that choices are limited; are there part-time positions at the local libraries, colleges or bookstores, etc?
Jessica seems to eat out fairly often. This enables me to get stuff with vegetables so I don't die. I didn't think of myself before as a person who even ate many vegetables but it seems that, compared to Jessica...!
Now, for many years I've practiced bellydance, mostly as just an exercise thing. This new room I'm in has more floor space than any of...

Wow! That video is crazy/amazing! I haven't had many Bollywood experiences, yet.
You should consider posting a video of your fancy new moves.
Eating vegetables are also a struggle for me - well, at least the kind that isn't deep fried. Good luck with your interview!

Awesome clip I loved that dancing! Question about your profile quote...I understand it is originally based on something attributed to Genghis Khan, athough I thought the wording you used was from Conan...but, I'm just curious!
Been in Minnesota a few days, already found many jobs to apply for and a couple have started contacting me back for interviews. Also found an opera company to audition for.
While it's hardly dignified to say you live in your sister's basement (that might even be a step down from "I live with my parents") the room here is actually kind of nice, other...

Been in Minnesota 1 day and already found 3 jobs to apply for (though one was a scammy Craigslist "models needed" ad where it says that pay is negotiable, and so they try to convince you that crappy swag and adding this work to your portfolio or resume should be enough compensation. This was extra horrible, they also added as a perk a "chance to...

Am writing from Minnesota; have successfully moved into my sister's basement for an indefinite period. Lost two items to TSA: a box of matches and a tub of lotion that was just thin enough to count as "liquid." Flight was not otherwise too bad. Warm chocolate chip cookies seem to be the new bag of peanuts. I was apparently nicknamed "The Heiress" by the staff...

I wish you had some photos from the airport. They were probably fascinated by you.
Booked a one-way flight to Minneapolis where I shall be staying with my sister and her family. Leave on Halloween. Need to figure out how to reduce my stuff down to reasonable airport luggage levels.
oldernow:
that's easy: go to the Mailbox store and mail all your stuff on the lowest rate.
thebeliever:
Good luck. Should be interesting times; and VERY different, no doubt.
Still living with parents in a motel. It sucks. Discovery of earplugs has made it at least bearable. We're here through the weekend with still no idea what's to come after.
jayenh:
That is a bummer.
In other news I think I'll have to order one or three of your books for some friends of mine.
