RIP Robin Cook.

He is the only politician I've raced home from school to see on the TV. It was the day of the Scott report debate. The tories had access to the report for 6 days. Robin Cook had three hours. In Parliament he savaged the Tories so fierce that even the Deputy PM of the day, Michael Heseltine, intervened - which was unheard of, a prominent front bencher is not expected to do such a thing. It was the political equivalent of Max McGee savaging Fred Williamson in Superbowl I.

He was a man of devasting intelligence and a politician of supreme stature. Gone way before his time.
