Hey kids,
Yesterday my husband and I and two of our friends went to Coney Island for the Netflix Traveling Roadshow screening of the Warriors. It was great. Definately a movie thats fun to see with a big group of people. Everyone was cheering when each gang entered a scene, and cheering when the Warriors narrowly made it away. And...there were bottles clanging from every direction during the infamous scene. I honestly love the movie, so I was very happy to see it in Coney. There was a Q&A with some of the actors afterwards, but we all had to work in the morning so we left. But hearing Cyrus scream "Can You Dig It?" while we were leaving was such a fitting ending.
And you know...Swan was so amazinlgy beautiful in the movie. I really don't want to break the illusion that he's not as hot now.
The earlier part of the day was spent sweating our asses off wondering around the boardwalk. It got more tolerable once the sun went down, but man, it was sweltering before then. I amazingly didn't get sunburned, but my freckles didn't darken as much as they normally do. I'm amazed to think this will be the summer that I do not get freckle ridden across my face.
I was talked into going on the Wonder Wheel. (go yell at Apocalypse_dude about that one) It not just a ferris wheel, oh no, it has cars that are attached to sliding tracks, so when you hit specific points you go barreling out and in over this small track, your rocking back and forth very violently, and you know, for someone who doesn't like heights or ferris wheels to being with, it was fucking terrifying!!!!! And to top it all off, I'm sitting in the front seat, since there are two and they are both facing one direction. So everytime the carriage goes flying I'm looking straight ahead, whenther it be at high speeds torwards the center, or flying out straight ahead, so it looks like your just going to fly into the neigboring parking lot. AGH...I'm glad I can say I went on it, but all the money in the world couldn't get me on that thing again.
My husband has pictures of me looking terrified on it. I may post them. Unfortunately he doesn't have the screaming recorded that coincided with the faces.
In honor of going on the monster I got an ice cream cone, soft serve Bannana/Pistachio twist. I'm still not sure if it made up for the terror. The cheesey haunted house almost did....almost.
All in all a very good day. I'm bummed I didn't get any Nathan's goodness, but we plan on going back and checking out the Sideshows By the Seashore before the end of the season.
Sigh...I love Coney Island....I love New York.
