Hey.

Back and forth. London. Chicago. Back again.

I'm having an awesome summer, and it's only just started.

Saw Guided By Voices. It felt good to get one more sing-a-long in before Bob called it a career.

The new McLusky record is human genius, and I recommend it to anyone who bought Nevermind when they were 15. Or have more than one Jesus Lizard...

Jesus Lizard were one of the bands that I put on all the great mixed tapes of my life in the early 90's... I'm trying to remember what album I saw them tour for, but it was in Detroit at St. Andrews hall. The singer was naked and hiding under the stage at one point, if I remember correctly... fuc king crazy rock radness. That being said, I must buy the McLusky record, thanks to your recommendation. I've been rocking out to Lightning Bolt a lot lately, fills that void I've got between my legs for rock savants.
Edited to add: if I say the word "rock" one more time, somebody's going to need to stone me.

One of my favourite things about South Western Ontario is that in June, the sun sets at 9:30. The whole process takes about 3 hours, and there's no better weather for lawn chairs.

Ask your local candidates about their position on sunsets and then vote what your heart tells you.

Actually, I don't give a shit what you vote, as long as you do it....

I didn't see that, but I watched Mulroney lull a sleepy Bill Clinton into REM oblivion during his eulogy for you know who... His deep baritone voice and even delivery put the whole fucken audience into a deeeeeep sleeeeeeep. Plus the fact that the two halves of his head kept flapping together threw off the few who were actually listening to him.
I am in total culture shock here. I would cut off my right arm for a three hour sunset on a lawn chair in my folks' Ancaster backyard.

i think it's going to be a good weekend.

i don't have anything that i feel like i have to do. there's no nagging responsibilities.

i think i'll take twenty-four 50 to my friend's house and sit in the sun. and then, afterwards, watch what could be Don Cherry's last night on Hockey Night in Canada.

the united states isn't as scary as i thought...

Music seems like religion to me sometimes. No one ever seem to be open to debate: their love is absolute.

I've been a music fan as long as I can remember, and I would like to think I'm pretty knowledgable, too. But I cannot post to the boards or join any music groups.

Is that because I don't like everyone else's rigidity of opinions? Or...

i'm so lazy when it comes to music that i just listen to my favorite bands over and over. nothing new really interests me, and i'm not exposed to anything new i'd really like.

it's okay, i like being stuck in 1995
glamerdork:
hey. about chicago... I don't know much about the bar scene because alas, I am 20 and lacking a fake id. However, for typical chicago fun check out the belmont area. Anyone who belongs in the typical subculture of the SG community will be wandering around there. There are some overly priced punk shops, but you can also find deals and tattoo places and the like. The tattoo place right off of the Belmont El stop seems to be a good place because it's run rather like a doctors office and is always busy. My friend got her cartilidge pierced there and I was impressed with the cleanliness. I can't speak for the quality of tattoo either because I haven't gotten one done there (or anywhere, actually). Feel free to join the chicago group and ask the resk of us Chi-towners-- I'm sure someone will have better advice for you on the bar scene, etc etc.

it's the holiday weekend here in canada. the offical beginning of the summer months.

and, with that, brings another semi-offical canadian tradition, the raising of the sin-taxes.

gas is the most expensive it's been in years, possibly ever. 90cents a litre right now. i've been paying between 60-70c for the last 2 or 3 years.

smokes went up again. $8.25-$8.75 a pack.

beer got more...

Gas here costs 99.9. I'm not sure what's going to happen when it goes up again, since all the station signs here only have room for 3 digits. Smokes here cost about $9.50. I haven't bought beer for a few weeks, so I don't know if that's up or not.

I'm trying to move here:

In the past seven days, two bands who'd be on my top 100 played in London, and I didn't go to either. Not because I was otherwise occupied, but because I just didn't feel like it.

Man, next thing you know I'll be going to Pier One because I need new throw pillows.
