I just tried to dye my hair chestnut brown. It went black. Well, black with brown and light brown highlights, but pretty close to black. Got any blacker? (Update: It didn't go black. It went brown. Sweet).
I just finished GTA: San Andreas.
Otis Redding is fucking spectacular. It's almost ludicrous that anyone could have a voice so profoundly rich with hurt, pain, sadness and strength, love and warmth.
The latest single from Black Rebel Motorcycle, Shuffle Your Feet, is brilliant. I've really been into their past two records, even if they did sound much the same as one another. But this latest one, I hear, is a lo-fi, semi-acoustic testament to their collective songwriting abilities. I'm down.
I went to an indie rock wank extravaganza on Saturday night. Saw four bands, then drank 'til morning with James, Max, and Max's housemate. Lovely. 4am renditions of You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You by Dean Martin with Max dancing around like a maniac; that's a good time.
Of the four bands playing, The Spark were the ones to look out for. Seriously, if you're in Sydney - or Australia, I suppose - and you see that they're playing a gig, head along. Bring all your friends. If you're into bands that sound like every other band you love - in a good way! - then you'll love them. Think Gang Of Four meets Modest Mouse meets the Kaiser Chiefs if the Kaiser Chiefs were better. I don't usually heavily prop up-and-comers, but these guys are going to be hot.
I'm thinking of changing my username to Sholto, which is my middle name. Should I do it? Which is a better name? (I'll pass the answers on to my parents too... they had a tough time deciding).
