pop culture and life
movies:
we saw 'chronicles of riddick' last night...meh. i thought the visual effects were really great, and the dialog was fine. but i don't like action sequences where i can't tell what's happening because of bad camera work. for god's sake learn to do good stunts, hire stunt people, or don't have fricking big fight action sequences! i do think vin diesel was very well cast, and liked judy dench as well. i was surprised by a couple of twists at the end, and enjoyed the send ups to flash gordon, dune, and macbeth.
maybe if i was a riddick fan before i would have been rooting for these people more. if this story were told with star trek characters, i would have cared a lot more about what happened to them.
tv:
am watching pirated dvd of season 3 of six feet under. and holy moly, they are fucking good. one thing i am really enjoying is that now that i know what is going to happen with olivier, i can stop wondering what is going to happen and actually listen to what he is saying. he is an arrogant pig, and no small part of me hates him, but he says some brilliant things. any could kathy bates not be on for longer?
fashion:
i am attending a conference next week in orlando, and realized this morning that i don't have any appropriate business attire for summer. the last summer conference i attended was in san francisco, and it was in the 70s. orlando is in the 90s. hmmm. maybe there will be lunch hour shopping, which i can't really afford, but will be fun.
comics: i really liked ex machina, the new vaughn title. and seaguy was unbelievable. really really good. runaways- meh. predictable. i wish they had not revealed that there was a mole, i would have enjoyed that twist much more if it has been a secret. new x-men- dropping it. i would like it if i was 14 maybe. started reading something JLA last night, think i will continue.
music: i may be going to soundbar tonight to see a dj called sasha. i have not been to a club in quite a while. the last time was in providence at the beginning of May, and that hardly counts. before that? i actually can't remember.
also, the choir is singing "let us love in peace" this sunday. it is from "the beautiful game", and it is going to be beautiful.
sex:
was really really good last night. and amazing while camping over the weekend.
love: it is good to be this much in love. i am so fortunate. i went to get more butter on my popcorn last night while we waited for the movie to start, and when i came back j was sitting in his seat, reading a comic, hair falling into his face, so
unassuming and adorable. and i thought about how lucky i was. gushy gush.

Great music list very eclectic. And at least for me at least some comics count. Like the new Ghost in the Shell Man Machine Interface (I have only #2).
