friday at last. and today is extra short because i had a site visit at the palmer house hilton downtown this morning. i had to look at all the meeting rooms etc for a conference i am planning. the guest rooms are nice, but i have to say i am not all that impressed with the rest of the hotel. i guess it is just too old school for me, too prim, i.e. boring. and really fricking expensive. i am a little worried about staying within budget actually.
*EDIT* i just heard from the palmer house the the room i looked at today is not available, so i have to start over with a new hotel. humph.
anyway...fun weekend planned. restaurant club and high llamas tonight, lunch with a. and dinner with c, m, and lm tomorrow, and oscar party on sunday. still not really getting the quiet time i keep thinking i need, but i am hoping it does not blow up in my face. *Crosses fingers*
j. and i celebrated 17 months together last night (yes we celebrate monthly anniversaries...our friends bert and ernie have been doing it for 37 months, and it is the sweetest damn thing in the world) by getting vongs thai kitchen carry out and watching the danish version of Kingdom Hospital on dvd. it is pretty creepy so far, but i have a feeling Stephen King's Version, which starts next week, is going to scare my pants off. that is coming up, along with new episodes of The Sopranos.
which reminds me, my cable is out. i don't know if it is a fluke, or if i was never supposed to have it for free in the first place, and they have finally shut it off after 17 months. nothing like getting someone to buy something by letting them sample it for free for a good long time.
blah blah, i have only been at work for two hours, and i am ready to leave again. so pretty outside.

warm wafting breezes in minneapolis today, too. i was reminded of my favorite haiku:
water trickles
sun warmed rail
two chickadees
