oh boy. weird day yesterday! i was at church this morning rehearsing with the choir when the pastor came in with people who had cameras and recording equipment. this is not that unusual, as my church and pastor have done some controversial things in the past, and the media has been there several times to do news stories. so they set up the cameras etc,...

for those of you not in chicago, i'd like to report it is *FUCKING FREEZE YOUR TITS OFF COLD* here. -30 wind chill. coldest it has been in the 7.5 years i have lived here. oh yeah.

I still talk with my exes, and sometimes I wish I didn't. Most times it's just better just to leave the past in the past.

And yes it's cold.

ok quick entry before i get to serious work. points:

*saw the movie 'the japanese story' last night. DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE. very rarely am i not able to find at least one redeemable thing about an experience, but after watching that movie i seriously resented not having those two hors of my life to relive. not only was the story beyond pointless,...

the do to list has been giving me evil glances over the last week. but working on the car in this weather, weill you understand, right? in the mac users group i saw a recommendation for MacJournal. it looks like a great way to collect random thoughts and ideas in a journal as well as a neat to-do list organizer. instead of going outside i think i'll work on my stack of paperwork and bills.
cc_baxter:
okay not seeing the "Japanese Story" on your say so.
sorry to hear about the firing responsibility. i used to have
a spineless employer who had me do all her dirty work, not
fun. may the good productivity be yours.

hugs and kiss 's

long weekend. good, but long. went to omaha for the kids show, which was fun. friday night we rehearsed, and all went smooth.

also, captain kangaroo died.

saturday morning we had an 8:00 flight, and i spent most of it reading random news in entertainment weekly and sleeping. the new stephen king show that is going to be on TV starting in march looks darn...

if you are doing something that "does not feel like work" you have found a special calling. most people cannot say that about his/her profession. how did you get burned out the first time around?

johnny depp gave a brilliant performance in pirates. monday evening, ebert predicted he would receive a nomination and sure enough, depp made the cut. i just saw pirate for the first time last night. i liked everything but the ending. all three of 'em should have been pirates. yar, let's keel haul the dirty skalawags!

blerg...i have been hit with the flu and am not recovering as quickly as j. did earlier in the week. he was laid up with a fever, stomach stuff and achiness on tuesday and wednesday, and on friday afternoon i felt myself coming down with a fever. i also had the nausea and achiness, but also a sore throat and stuffy head. and general exhaustion....

hope all is well. make sure you bundle up this week because you wouldn't want to relapse in weather like this!

i find your comment about work + internet to be very true. even with access to a computer and the internet at home, i probably spent more time at work online. of course, when you get hooked on a site, all hopes of productivity are lost.
escottie:
the internet is addictive. i've averaged about 75% of normal nightly sleep since i joined SG. arrrrrgh!

i really miss SportsNight. what a loss that was....

hope you're well, aj.

"It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel unsure around you. We were born to make manifest the joy that is within us....

You're very welcome for the words.
I think there's always going to be some fear in our lives, some of it completely illogical. Maybe it's just the illogical part that can be done away with. And maybe getting rid of it starts with ferreting out the roots. Shit, I sound like Mr. Spock...I was up till 3 am thinking about all of this, about what exactly I was scared of (mostly mortality issues)....at one point I thought I had it figured out, then I fell asleep and forgot it all....But if I remember any of it, you'll be the first to know kiss

it was a long, lovely, and social weekend. j. and i are still recovering from a mindblowing new years eve. we had so much fun, with each other and with friends from various social circles. possibly more fun than i have ever had on a new years eve. i'm still planning to compose entries specifically about the drug experience and the sex.

but the extreme...

happy happy happy new year.

it has been an amazing 24 hours. i:

went to dinner twice, got altered, broke a cycle, heard about missing pieces to a sad, amazing puzzle of a love story, realized i don't really know who my parents are, made at least one potential new friend, drank lots of coffee and lots of water, danced, worried about drugs, felt bursting...

back at work, trying to keep in perspective how much in life is good and the many many successes of 2003. here's what's against me this morning:

*very restless night. bad sleep and upset stomach from birth control.

*must have lunch with boss to discuss my annual review, which had positive and negative stuff. almost everything in the review is true, but that does not...

the end of year lists are pouring in to the various geek boards, and i am itching to make another of my own.

music: i don't necessarily call these the best of 2003, but these are the 2003 releases that i listened to and enjoyed a lot this year. i certainly don't claim to have good taste, nor would i necessarily suggest some of this...

i have seen 21 of the 488 films released at the theater so far in 2003, and here are my top 5:

5. Amendla! A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony- Beautiful and powerful story of the evolution of music in south africa and how politics imitates art and vice versa.

4. Kill Bill Volume 1.- pretty much flawless for what it was. funny, over the top,...

what a weekend. we hit several of our social circles and had fun across the board. dinner at feast on friday night followed by a party at a pal's place in pilsen. i had definite apartment envy, but would not trade that hard to heat loft for living in lakeview.

saturday night we went to the redmoon winter pageant, and i say to you now,...

In my warped imagination, I always imagine you and your honey as SG's version of the "lov-ah" couple from the SNL skit.

I am curious how good Angels in America is .... I have HBO on demand and do need to watch it and probably tape it.

Its ironic that the best Actors/Oscar picture this year is on HBO but 6 hours does not an easy theatre experience make.

Enjoy Chicago its a cool town (spent 2 years at univ. of chicago .. down in Hyde Park) .. survive the Hawk off the lake smile
