Cheer up buddy. I hear ya. I was cutting myself a lot for a while because physical pain is so much easier to deal with than emotional pain. I think we need to not take everything so hard and emotional. Learn to thicken your heart and skin.
Don't be a pussy. Initially stepping on someone's toes doens't mean that you're gonna get booted. I can understand why people got a little shirty- we get asked the question A LOT- but one little fracas probably won't mean that you're going to get you booted.

Hahaha, I occasionally drive around in a Ford Ka! It has a skull and crossbones hanging off the mirror and three nodding vultures in the back window. I really want either an old mini or a beetle, though- they've got so much personality and are a hoot to drive. I used to have a mini but it was really clapped out and died eventually
Seriously, all you need is confidence, d00d. Chicks dig confidence. The average slag in a white miniskirt might not go for your g33kish charms, but rest assured that there are girls out there who like guys for who they are and not what they are.
