so, i'm sick. been sick for about five days. it blows.
my first exam is tomorrow. math. i'm pretty sure i'm going to do amazing (see: fail horribly).
this is what's up for basic for the next week:
100ft roll assignment due on monday. (various excersizes to be shot on one 100ft roll of film, lighting, tripod shot [wtf?!], slow motion shots [shoot to edit, three shot minimum], and some other stupid crap).
handmade film should be in progress by monday, due wednesday.
and since i've been sick, i sort of got an extenstion on my 101 "out of class screening" journal. which is good, cause it wasn't done! *whew* sweet save. so i need to write up a couple pages of bullshit about art that i've seen around.
Journal entries are about the following:
-Man With The Movie Camera - i watched my personal copy a couple weeks ago, i guess that counts. that movie is fantastic! if you haven't ever seen it, or know nothing about experimental film, i urge you to see this!
-Stan Brakhage's Mothlight - watched in Basic. pretty awesome.
-MySpace: The Movie! - no, seriously. it's on the web. google.
-a NY Times article about how MySpace and the proliferation of cheap, small digital cameras are giving birth to self portraiture as a new kind of folk art. not kidding about this. so the "you-took-a-dumb-ass-photo-of-yourself-in-the-bathroom-mirror" shot is art now. ugh!
-The Bruce Nauman neon exhibit at the Art Musem - i'm going friday, i guess it's really neat.
i have the one about the NY Times article written.
so yeah...i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. i'm not exactly sure when i'm going to squeeze in making a two minute handmade peice this weekend. but i certainly have enough supplies for it at Sharon's.
oh yeah, since i've been sick, i'm living at sharon's now. i've been going kind of stir crazy. i hate feeling like i'm confined here! but alas...she has more medicine, food, white soda and heat. plus, she's already been exposed to my sick ass for days on end, while my roommates (who are not students, except for Kate) have not, and do not have access to free health facilities (ie: Student Clinic). so, price i pay, i guess. at least i brought a ton of DVDs and comics to keep me busy.
PS - if you haven't already, everybody go make friends with xresistx, he's my bro.
