I had nothing to do tonight, so I thought I would return to the cafe that Joanna took me to on Friday night. There was a waitress there who was dreadfully cute. Joanna said she looked like a superhero - like Wonder Woman or something. I said that she looked nothing like Wonder Woman - maybe like Mary Marvel, though. Then I had to explain who Mary Marvel was. Joanna said the name suited her, and it will have to do for a name, because I never found out what her name actually was. I think that all I said to her was, "I think I'll have the pancakes," which could have been worse, as far as opening lines go.
Actually, she may have heard me singing "Into the Woods," as the whole cafe probably did. I sort of had to, though. You see, Joanna asked me where I wanted to sit, and I said, "I think... I want to sit here... Yes... That's what I want... More than anything... More than life... I wish... More than riches... More than the moon..." and so I had to continue, "The king is having a FESTival... I wish to go to the FESTival..." and the song sort of flowed out. There was nothing I could have done about it, really. Anyway, "Into the Woods" was something that Other Chick loved, and, based on something I read about all women being pretty much the same, that might have gotten me on Mary Marvel's good side.
Anyway, after taking a PATH train to Hoboken, I realized that I didn't remember the name of the cafe. So I wandered the streets of Hoboken for a while, to see if anything looked familiar. Then I would saunter in all nonchalantly and say, "Tralala... I certainly am nonchalant... Oh, what a nice cafe. Since I'm in the neighborhood anyway, I think I'll sit down. Do you serve pancakes? I could go for some. Also, I couldn't help but notice that you are dreadfully cute."
Of course, when I reached the cafe, Mary Marvel wasn't there, which, now that I reread my plans for the evening, was probably just as well. You know, I am really not cut out for being single. I should really stop doing that.
