I think the conservatives may have gone too far. Again.
The other day, I saw a billboard that said, "'A Woman's Right to Choose' Vs. A Baby's Right to Live." At first, I thought it was sort of a silly advertisement. It doesn't say why those two ideas would be in opposition, nor does it provide any convincing arguement for either side. Then I remembered that the phrase "A Woman's Right to Choose" usually refers specifically to the issue of abortion. That's when the crux of their threat became clear. They're saying that if we don't stop getting abortions, they're going to start killing babies.
For a second I thought, "No, they can't be serious. There is no way they're going to start killing babies just to prove a point." Then I thought back to a couple of years ago when I thought, "No, they can't be serious. There is no way they're going to go to war with a country that poses absolutely no threat to us." As you can see, you have to take the conservatives seriously. I don't think they're fucking around this time.
There is something that can be done. I would like to take a moment to address all of my liberal friends, particularly those who opposed George Bush, Jr. because they have some crazy idea that killing people who are already alive is somehow "worse" than preventing a birth from happening. Don't you understand that the President - you know, the one who is in favour of executing the mentally retarded and starting wars for no reason - is actually defending the sanctity of human life? Stop getting all of those abortions. I know that you're all having unprotected premarital sex just for the thrill of having abortions. I know how much fun that is as well as anyone. It's not like I don't have my own reservations about this situation. Especially considering how it is evident from when the religious right rallied to protect the sanctity of marriage that they think that to "protect the sanctity of" something means to keep gay people from doing it, I am VERY wary when they start talking about "protecting the sanctity of human life," but they hold all the cards. Let's face it, the conservatives are not held accountable for anything in this country. They're going to start killing babies and they're going to get away with it.
Seriously, this has to be stopped. Think of the children.
