Last night, I went to the Rent Party & Silent Auction at the Center for Anti-Violence Education, because I figure if there's one thing I'm against, it's violence. And I know I'm against Grant Morrison's "New X-Men," so it stands to reason that I am against one thing and must therefore also be against violence. QED.
I donated $20 (I know, big spender...) and proceeded to stand around as I usually do at parties. Although this event was only watched by Miss Friday and me, I secretly hoped to see one or two of my SGNY friends there (maybe even Freyja herself), but instead I took on the responsibility of being the sole representative of the Suicide Girls community. So now the Center for Anti-Violence Education thinks we're all a bunch of creeps. Sorry about that.
I left when I couldn't stand the music any more, secure in the knowledge that, if nothing else, I had a jolt of good karma. And the karma paid off pretty quickly, since a comic book shop down the street was having a sale. So at the end of the night, I gave $20 to stop violence and $20 to support the arts (particularly the arts included in comic books) and obtained a karma equilibrium.
Speaking of Suicide Girls events, I found out today that my brother's graduation is this weekend, meaning that I can't go to Jenisfamous' show at Caroline's. This is the second time I have tried to go to one of her shows and at the last minute found out that I couldn't make it, so I hate myself even more than I usually do. If anybody is around, I'd appreciate it if you could go in my place. Comb your hair over the right side of your face, stand around awkwardly (be sure to look VERY uncomfortable - like your skin is too tight or something), and laugh so hard that other people start edging away from you. If I can't find anyone to take my place at Caroline's, I may have to get someone to do the same thing at the graduation...

What did you pick up at the comic book store? I got out for the Free comic book day and nabbed graphic novel #13 of Love and Rockets for $5 Plus bought my first actual comic in a while -- Countdown to Infinite Crisis. That...was one mindbender! Yet another reason why DC still rules for me.
I'm sorry for that last joke... But, really, that series is like heroin, except instead of injecting a drug into your arm, you read some comics.
