Have you ever met someone and it was like walking into a movie in the middle - you don't know what's going on or who the characters are - but you pick up enough here and there to get by, and then you get really caught up in it and emotionally invested in the story, but the next time you see her, it's like someone put in a reel from a completely different film while you weren't paying attention? Well, that's not what I want to talk about today.
Is it just me, or does mistletoe seem like a really bad idea? There's a cute story behind it (the moral seems to be "Loki is such a dick"), but most of the people who hang mistletoe aren't even Norse, so it has no spiritual significance for them. The Christmas songs on the radio seem to have come to the consensus that kissing under the mistletoe is really romantic, but what's so romantic about forced kissing? If two people really want to kiss, they don't need seasonal decorations as an excuse. I'm much more comfortable with asking, "Hey, do you want to kiss?" or just sudden, unexplained kissing than with mistletoe.
It probably is just me.

edited to say:
i have mixed feelings about mistletoe.
i think i'd only be 100% for it if i had a head band with a sprig of mistletoe on it, that way i could choose my mistletoe-ing partners. hah.
