Who believes in God because they have such an overwhelming connection with a spiritual dimension and not because they fear the consequences of not believing?
Seriously. I'm really asking this question. It's not rhetorical.

I do sometimes envy those who have some form of genuine faith though. Something more than my pseudo deism. Many of them seem happier, more fullfilled than I. I just find it sad that so many of them also seem to be arrogant, self righteous, ignorant & intolerant assholes.
As far as afterlife or consequences. Again, I wish I believed. I would love some sort of assurance. Because I believe that what happens is that consciousness just ceases.
And nothing is scarier to me.
the one time i believed in god, who i will henceforth refer to as "mama", it was because i felt that there was an overwhelming sense of goodness and love that was there, out there, if you could only reach out to it and understand that it existed. there were no consequences to be had either way.
