Wow, so my mom initiated a meet and greet between myself(of course) and the daughter of her best friend, who happens to also now be living up here in NY. Now, i haven't seen this girl in prolly over 20 years.. In fact, I actually forgot she existed, so when my mom brought the whole thing up I had her older sister come to mind. Wasn't until I met her today that I remembered... haha whoops...
So I meet her at Union Square, as she's a young 20 something going to NYU and thought it would be a good idea to show her the Greenmarket. Course being winter there wasn't a whole lot more than the cheese, root veg, and cider folks out, but none the less it went over pretty well.
Now the strange bit i can't wrap my head around is when my mom started this all up she was noticeably giddy over the phone. When I inquired what she was up to, meaning if she was trying to play match-maker, she responded 'oh just folding you're dad's underwear...' I laughed and asked again cause that was certainly not what was making her sound like a school girl. As strange as it is, for me at least, to see my parents be real people and not just 'my parents,' this was just plain awkward. So imagine my surprise when the gal turned out not to be the daughter around my age, but at least a good 6 years younger. I've of course got no problem with this, but to think back to my mom being excited about me trolling for young college gals is a weird thought....
