It's funny, there's such a stereotype about engineers not being romantics and guys in general not being in touch with their emotional side. But after spending a week having those "getting to know you" conversations with dozens of (mostly male) engineers, I gotta say, the stereotype is wholly without merit. These guys seem to be the most devoted and affectionate bunch of husbands and fathers I've ever run across.
They took every opportunity to brag about their wives or slip in stories about how they proposed or would have pissing matches over who does the most sweet things for their wives. And don't even get them started about their kids. Holy cow. Then comes the torrent of how theirs are the most intelligent, talented kids on the planet. These guys are so busting with love it's astounding.

I'm referring to the ski season in the West in general. Georgia had one ski slope, Sky Valley, but thanks to global warming, I don't know if they ever get enough snow to do anything. North Carolina is probably the closest one that has any snow at all, and most east coasters of course go farther north to Vermont or PA. I figure if I have to fly, I might as well go out West where the mountains are higher and the snow is deeper, and for that matter, the resorts are cooler.
I hear you on the romance thing.
