So I walk into the shoe store Journeys and it hits me. I need a job. I was bored enough to step foot in a mall with no money. There was a reason why I came here right?
"You hiring?"
"Yeah actually."
So the manager and I talked a bit about this that and the other thing about working at Journeys cos a the ripe ol' age of 17 I quit, but left on good terms. I tried to get my job back before but the new manager there was an asshole I knew before I had left. so I tried. No luck there.
"So what's open for me to fill in?" and Im thinking it's only going to be a part time position, probably not worth traveling and losing studio time.
"Co-manager, get paid salary and commission and you only have to be here 32 hours. Is that good?"
So...I have an interview with the store manager now and I realize,.."hey Alyssa? You're still at crazy art school. You know the one that keeps you up all night. Crying occasionally? just letting you know."
Then I tell myself, "woman? You want to travel when in Rome? You want to go out to eat (and dollar menu doesn ot count)? You want your shoulder piece done within the year? Then shut up and fucking work! All you do is sleep and watch Law and Order when you get home from class anyway." So now Im going to be the co-manager at Journey's Willow Grove. Mall jobs. Can't get better than that.
I went in looking like Rosie the Riveter, too. It was pretty sweet.

I am in the process of applying to a few MBA schools and I work full time. Just means that you are going to have to find a balance among all your activities. Try not to get frustrated as it will all work out. Just be willing to change directions when it calls for it.... And whatever you do have fun!
