It's snowing.
Okay, this requires a bit of backstory. You see, the main reason that I moved up here was the weather. Out here in the middle of nowhere the climate is regulated by close proximity to the Pacific Ocean. The temperature never really gets higher than mid-80s or lower than freezing, and there are plenty of crispy 45F days and balmy 72F days scattered in between. The only catch is that it rains more than 200 days out of the year, but I love the rain. The one thing it is not supposed to do here is snow. Granted, there have been a couple of years, most of them history by now, in which there was some snow. Hell, one year there was even 2" of it that melted away within an hour of falling. One would think that the reason for the utter lack of snow in recent years would be global warming. I certainly noticed it during the summer, but I thought it would mean warmer winter as well.
Apparently not.
Because it's fucking snowing. It did it last night and it's doing it again right now. I even shot a little video clip of it because I was so bloody surprised.
So really what this means is that I had to halt my shexy sweater progress to whip out a quick new scarf out of these two lonely balls of cashmere blend I found in my stash. My old raggedy magic scarves aren't cutting it anymore.
I'm trying to figure out what the stitch pattern reminds me of. So far it's a toss-up between kelp, tree bark, and DNA. Thoughts?

DNA all the way.

How weird, I was looking at those pictures and thought "that looks like what it would look like if you spliced the dna of trees and kelp together." Then read your comments below it.
