Oh, California, how I loathe thee... let me count the ways.
Getting off the plane in San Jose was like sticking your head in a pizza oven. How can anything possibly be so hot and so dry and so bright all at once? I felt like Gollum shaking his fist at the sun as he decides to live in his cave with the little boat and the blind fish for good. "Curse the Yellow Face! We hates it forever!"
I suppose if I lived in Silicon Valley I'd get used to the weather. I'd probably be making enough money to get used to the high price of gas, food, etc. But I'd have a hard time getting used to the institutionalized racial stratification. You very quickly realize in California that, everywhere you go, Hispanic people, and only Hispanic people, are doing all the low-wage shit jobs. And if you're not Hispanic yourself, it starts to feel just a little bit like apartheid-era South Africa.
I won't even mention the traffic, lest I start sounding like Andy Rooney. And the brown grass everywhere, except in the industrial parks. (Which is worse, ugly nature or ugly nature-destroyed-by-man?)

If you read the last page you'll see my frustration. He drives me nuts because he just won't concede anything.
His latest dodge is that he has decided that the dictionary definitions of words aren't really accurate. He's decided that he has the real definitions of all the relevant words and phrases and they are fluid depending on how much he needs to prove his case.
